Sessions attended Myrtle Beach High School in his hometown. His exceptional performance earned him the South Carolina 3A State Player of the Year award three times. He was instrumental in leading his team to the 3A State Championship during his sophomore year.

From 2004 to 2007, Sessions played for the Nevada Wolf Pack. Over three seasons, he averaged 8.8 points, 4.9 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per game. He ranks second in school history for assists with 478 and ninth in steals with 113. As a freshman, he set a school record for assists with 166 and was recognized with a spot on the WAC All-Newcomer Team. His junior year performance in 2006-07 garnered him Second Team All-WAC honors and recognition as a finalist for the prestigious Bob Cousy Award.

⭐ Milwaukee Bucks (2007-2009)

Sessions began his NBA career with the Milwaukee Bucks after being drafted by them. He was initially assigned to the NBA Development League's Tulsa 66ers, earning D-League Performer of the Week honors twice before being recalled. He made his NBA debut in March 2008. His rookie season saw impressive assist numbers, including a franchise-record 24 assists against the Chicago Bulls, and he was named Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month for April.

Following a restricted free agency period, Sessions signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves in September 2009. He played in all 82 games for the Timberwolves in the 2009-10 season, averaging career highs in games played and minutes per game for that season, contributing 8.2 points and 3.1 assists.

Traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in July 2010, Sessions experienced a significant offensive role. In the 2010-11 season, he averaged a career-best 13.3 points and 5.2 assists, showcasing his scoring ability, particularly as a reserve.
